This study is for identifying the meaning of participation in volunteer work as serious leisure for marriage immigrant women, and is an attempt to empirically analyze what meaning volunteer work, which is a serious leisure activity, has on marriage immigrant women. For this, in-depth interviews were held using semi-structured questionnaires for six marriage immigrant women, and inductive domain analysis was conducted. In result, there were three main categories of value formation, self-improvement, and sociality, seven medium categories of motivation for volunteering, accomplishment, formation of self-esteem, quality of life, empowerment, improved awareness of multi-cultural families, and sense of community, and 17 sub-categories. Marriage immigrant women placed importance on the motivation of volunteering and its resulting accomplishment and personal self-improvement, and it was found that it contributed to improving awareness of multi-cultural families, and sense of community. However, it is assumed that additional research on qualitative aspects such as the meaning and relationship of volunteering as serious leisure for marriage immigrant women according to changes in the social form and phenomena such as COVID-19 will be needed.

본 연구는 결혼이주여성의 진지한 여가로써 자원봉사 참여에 대한 의미를 파악하고, 이러한 진지한 여가활동 중의 하나인 자원봉사가 결혼이주여성들에게 실증적으로 어 떠한 의미인지 분석하기 위해 시도되었다. 이를 위해 결혼이주여성 6명을 대상으로 반 구조화된 질문지를 활용하여 심층 면담을 하였고, 귀납적범주분석을 진행하였다. 그 결과 가치형성, 자기향상, 사회성이라는 대영역 3항목, 자원봉사 동기, 성취, 자존감 형 성, 삶의 질, 역량강화, 다문화 인식 개선, 공동체 의식 등 중영역 7항목 및 17항목의 소 영역으로 도출되었다. 결혼이주여성들은 자원봉사의 동기와 이에 따른 성취, 개인적인 자기향상 부분에 의미를 두었으며, 다문화 인식 개선과 공동체 의식 증진에 기여를 한 것으로 나타났다. 다만 코로나19 등 사회 형태, 현상의 변화에 따른 결혼이주여성의 진 지한 여가로써 자원봉사의 의미와 관계에 대한 질적인 측면에 대한 추가 연구는 필요 할 것으로 사료된다
