Yangyeongsugwon is an abridgment book extracted from the Shiji and Hanshu. King Jeongjo abstracted it by himself and categorized by writers. In this study, Yangyeongsugwon is compared with Sagiyoungseon because it is not clear why King Jeongjo made Yangyeongsugwon again from the same subject in a similar way but in two different sets. As results of this study, it is discovered that the Yangyeongsugwon was compilated as a personal study tool for King Jeongjo himself to recite based on three reasons as follow. First, King Jeongjo considered the Shiji, Hanshu, and Huhanshu as only officail historical publication not just educational anthology book. Second, The construction of this book shows King Jeongjo did not consider other people as readers. It is hard to find information of title because they are written different from original text on the Yangyeongsugwon. Third, it turns out that there is the unique characteristic of Jeongjo’s abridgment which is unsuited for other readers except Jeongjo himself. He chose the instructive ones which might be helpful for king, not for students. This research has an academic significance because it points out the clear difference between the Yangyeongsugwon and the Sagiyoungseon by comparing them as anthology and abridgment book.

｢兩京手圈｣은 司馬遷의 ｢史記｣와 班固의 ｢漢書｣, 范曄의 ｢後漢書｣를 대상으로 하여 엮은 정조 親撰 抄本 ｢四部手圈｣ 중 史部 문헌으로, 본고는 정조가 이전에 選本 ｢사기영선｣을 편찬 및 유통한 이후 재차 초본 ｢양경수권｣을 편찬하였다는 사실에 주목하여, ｢양경수권｣ 편찬 과정과 구성을 ｢사기영선｣과 비교 검토하고, 그 절록 내용을 분석하여 ｢사부수권｣ 편찬 의도를 추측하였다. 그 결과, ｢양경수권｣은 정조가 초본이라는 문헌의 특성을 활용하여 개인적으로 외워두면 좋을만한 구절들을 모아 효율적으로 구성하여 곁에 두고 자주 읽어 암송하기 위한 목적으로 편찬된 문헌이라는 결론을 도출하였다. 그 근거로는 첫째, ｢양경수권｣ 편찬 시 三史에 대한 정조의 관점은 문장학습서가 아닌 긴 시대를 정리한 역사서에 해당한다. 둘째, 편찬 과정은 15일 가량으로 매우 짧고, 그 구성에 있어 일관성이 부족하며 주관적인 편명 표기 등 불친절하게 느껴질 정도로 소략한 면모를 보인다. 셋째, 편찬자 정조 이외의 인물이 읽고 활용하기에는 다소 부적합한 인용구가 절록되어 있으며, 그 주제에 있어서는 위정자에게 도움이 될 만한 내용들이 다수이다. 본 연구는 정조의 선본과 초본을 구분하여 문헌 내적 분석을 통해 두 문헌의 편찬 의도가 다르다는 점을 추측한 것에 학술적 가치를 지닌다.
