The purpose of this study is to further classify the order of the arrangement of historical events in previous studies, and further to classify the period according to the external factors of each racetrack. The subject of the study was a major racetrack that existed on the Korean Peninsula after the modern period. The results reached by developing this paper are as follows. First, due to the modern horse racing facilities on the Korean Peninsula, it was largely divided into the period of temporary and temporary horse racing, transitional horse racing, and upper and facility horse racing, and it was divided into before and after the annexation of Korea and the Korean War, respectively. Second, horse racing was a game that attracted a large number of visitors on the Korean Peninsula, so the forces leading the horse racing at the time devoted themselves to selecting the place in the order of spacious place, convenient transportation, and flood safety. Third, the order of the main places where horse racing was held on the Korean Peninsula was changed to Hullyeonwon(訓鍊院), Yongsan Japanese Army Station, Yeouido Japanese Arai Ranch, Hangang White Beach near Ichondong Footbridge, Gunsan Racecourse, Ttukseom Racecourse, Gwacheon Racecourse."

본 연구의 목적은 선행연구의 시대별 사건 배열순 시기 구분에서 일보하여, 경마장 각각의 외부적 요인에 따른 시기 구분에 있다. 연구대상은 근대기 이후 한반도에 존재했던 주요 경마장을 그 대상으로 하였다. 본고를 전개하여 도달 된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한반도 근대 경마장 시설에 기인하여 크게 가·시설 경마장 시기, 과도적 경마장 시기, 상· 시설 경마장 시기로 구분하였고, 이를 다시 한일합방 전후와 한국전쟁 전후로 구분하여, 한반도에서 한민족과 일제가 주도한 경마장 상황을 각각 분리해 내었다. 둘째, 한반도에서 경마는 대단히 많은 관람객을 불러온 경기였기에 그 장소에 선정에 있어 당시 경마를 주도하는 세력은 매우 심혈을 기울였으며, ①넓은 장소, ②편리한 교통편, ③수해(水害) 안전의 순으로 그 장소를 선정하여 이동시키었다. 셋째, 한반도에서 경마가 진행되었던 주요 장소의 순서는 대한제국군 훈련원, 용산 일본군주둔지, 여의도 아라이목장, 이촌동 인도교 부근 한강백사장, 군산경마장, 신설동경마장, 뚝섬경마장, 과천경 마장 등의 순서로 변경 및 이전되었다.
