The study sought to understand the implications of fishing activities as a serious leisure activity for the elderly. From February to June 2022, 10 seniors living in City A were selected for fishing activities. In order to achieve the purpose of the research, qualitative research was carried out on the basis of phenomenological methods that allowed us to grasp the meaning of personal experience. The result was 4 categories, 7 topic collections, and 19 topics. In detail, first, under the category of psychological satisfaction, addictive and fun factors due to pleasure, psychological safety, and unpredictability were derived. Second, it has been shown that under the category of forming a field of communication for the improvement of skills, a field of communication related to equipment and reservoir related is formed. The third is to overcome the constraints caused by various environments under the category of overcoming the constraints of various environments, and strive to improve one's physical fitness and professional understanding of fishing. Finally, a particular culture under the category of cultures was found to be photographed and recorded with the largest or handsome fish caught at the end of a fishing activity. In the case of companion fishing, it appeared that the person who caught the largest fish had a culture of serving meals, indicating that their culture was already in place. These results can be used as a basis for future research on the leisure activities of the elderly.

본 연구는 노인의 진지한 여가로서의 낚시 활동이 그들의 삶에 어떤 의미를 담고 있는지 파악하고자 2022년 2월에 서부터 6월까지 약 5개월간 A시에 거주하고 있는 낚시 활동을 진지한 여가로 경험하고 있는 10명을 선정하여 진행하였으 며, 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 개인적 경험의 의미를 파악할 수 있는 현상학적 방법에 근거하여 질적 연구를 진행하였 다. 그 결과 범주 4개, 주제 모음 7개, 주제 19개가 도출되었으며, 세부적으로 첫째, 심리적 만족감 범주 아래 즐거움, 심리적 안정감, 예측 불가에 따른 중독성과 재미 요인이 도출되었다. 둘째, 실력 향상을 위한 소통의 장 형성 범주 아래 장비 관련, 저수지 관련 소통의 장이 형성되는 것으로 나타났다. 세 번째 다양한 환경과 극복 범주 아래 다양한 환경에 따른 제약 극복에 따라 다양한 환경으로 비롯되는 제약들을 극복하기 위해 본인의 체력 향상 및 낚시에 대한 전문적 이해를 위해 노력을 기울이는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 문화 범주 아래 특별한 문화는 공통적으로 낚시 활동 종료 시에 그날 잡은 물고기 중 크거나 잘 생긴 물고기, 그 저수지의 특징을 표현해주는 물고기를 들고 사진을 찍어 기록하는 것으로 나타 났으며, 동반 출조의 경우 가장 큰 물고기, 많은 수의 물고기를 잡은 사람이 식사를 대접하는 문화가 관행처럼 있는 것으로 나타나 그들의 문화가 이미 자리 잡아오고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 결과는 향후 진행 될 노인의 여가 활동에 관한 연구 진행에 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
