This study examines the modern daily life of hierarchies and separations between work and living, productive and reproductive labor, and public and private spheres through the experience of living in Gagae-zip(가게집), which was one of the housing types in the 1960s and 1980s. This type of housing, which has been commonly used as a Jun-bang(전방), Sangha-zip (상가집), is a housing type in which work and living places found in some self-employed businesses exist in one space. Gagae-zip has been considered a space for women because, under the modern gender division of labor, housework and child rearing, which are mainly reproductive labors occurring at home, were regarded as women's work. This study argues that productive labor and reproductive labor have been carried out on a single continuum in the analysis of the experience of living in a Gagae-zip dictated by 9 cases of housing life histories. In addition, for married women with children, a Gagae-zip was one of the narrow options for both reproductive and productive labor, including raising children. This study analyzes that women's work experience and family experience are very closely mixed in the residentail oral history of the housing experience in the Gagae-zip, which was part of the urban neighborhood living facility at that time, and that productive and reproductive labor are connected.
