The purpose of this study was to analyze the opportunities for tourists to participate in domestic and foreign food festivals. In addition, we explored whether tourists who have participated in the food festival are willing to recommend it to people around them or visit the food festival together in the future. This study used interview techniques during qualitative research and a total of 12 tourists participated in this study. We found that tourists wanted to eat various and distinctive foods through food festivals. In addition, we found that tourists were preciously aware of obtaining information and knowledge about local culture and ingredients learned through food festivals. In addition, tourists who participated in overseas food festivals were found to be highly satisfied because they not only experience food festivals but also partake in visiting tourist attractions. The more famous tourist destinations that host food festivals become, the more tourists intend to visit, which are contributors to the development of the local economy. Tourists participating in the food festival have a high rate of revisiting because they can eat freshly prepared food and purchase regional food or ingredients during the festival. In addition, tourists prefer to experience the local food culture and various hands-on tourism programs through food festivals. In addition, tourists visiting food festivals such as family and friends were found to feel positive emotions while experiencing these hands-on tourism programs.
