This study explores how the modern thinking system is reviving in times of uncertainty when COVID-19 has spread, including its phenomenon and meaning, and the need for a recursive discussion of university liberal arts education in order to respond to it. In the face of COVID-19, the social order based on individualized and fragmented cultural diversity, which has been recognized as a post-modern value, is reconverted to a modern value based on rationality and efficiency included in public and collective values. As the modern thinking system is resurrecting, the learning of university liberal arts education becomes more important for members of modern society to adapt to the retrograde and disruptive transitional culture. Liberal arts education at universities that identify themselves as a higher education institution plays an important role in forming a network of trust for safety built by a group of experts and drives the process of strengthening human capabilities to adapt to an uncertain environment. Therefore, the recursive discussion on university liberal arts education should be continued. University liberal arts education in a flexible society has important implications because it provides fundamental universal values that enable humans to correctly interpret and respond to the structure of current disruptive cultures.

본 연구에서는 코로나19 바이러스가 확산하면서 도래한 이 불확실성 시대에 근 대적 사고체계가 어떤 경로로 부활하고 있는지에 대한 현상과 의미를 고찰하고, 이 에 대응하기 위한 대학교양교육의 재귀적 논의에 대한 필요성을 논의했다. 코로나 19 팬데믹 시대를 맞이하여 그동안 탈근대적 가치로 인식되어 온 개별화, 파편화 된 문화 다양성에 기반을 둔 사회질서가 공공적이면서 집합적 가치에 포함된 합리 성, 효율성에 기반을 둔 근대적 가치로 재전환되고 있다. 현대 사회구성원들에게는 이 같은 근대적 사고체계의 부활 과정에서 발생하는 역행적이면서도 분열적인 전 환적 문화에 적응하기 위해서 보편적 교양교육을 학습하는 것이 무엇보다 중요한 시기가 되었다. 고등교육기관으로서의 정체성을 지닌 대학의 교양교육은 전문가 집단에 의해 구축되는 안전의 신뢰관계망 형성에 중요한 역할을 담당하며, 불확실 한 환경에 적응할 수 있는 인간 역량 강화 과정을 추동한다는 점에서 그 방향성에 대한 재귀적 논의가 지속적으로 이루어져야 한다. 이처럼 유연사회에서의 대학교 양교육은 인간이 현재의 분열적 문화구조를 올바르게 해석하고 대응할 수 있게 하 는 근본적인 보편적 가치를 제공한다는 점에서 중요한 의미를 내포하고 있다고 할 수 있다.
