This study aims to investigate the impact of employee training on the performance of manufacturing firms in Southeast Asian emerging markets.We use a sample of 2,348manufacturing firms in Vietnam, Indonesia, andMalaysia that are collected fromtheWorld Bank Enterprise Survey (WBES) dataset between 2014 and 2016. In order to test the effectiveness of employee training, multiple regression analysis is used. The results show that employee training has positive effects on the labor productivity of the manufacturing firms in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Furthermore, employee training focused on innovation are positively associated with labor productivity in these three countries. Employee training sponsored by firms may have positive effects on the performance of manufacturing firms in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Using a cross-national sample, this study contributes to the current literature by verifying the effectiveness of employee training in themanufacturing industry of Southeast Asian emergingmarkets.

동남아 신흥시장은 기업이 필요로 하는 노동력을 확보하는 데 어려움을 겪고 있어 종업원 훈련의 필요성이 증가한다. 게다가 기업의 생존과 성장에 미치는 영향이 더 커지고 있어 인적자원의 중요성은 갈수록 중요해지고 있고 인적자원에 대한 투자는 계속 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 동 남아 신흥시장에서 종업원 훈련이 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는 세계은행(World Bank)이 베트남, 인도 네시아, 말레이시아에서 수집한 기업 설문 데이터 베이스(World Bank Enterprise Survey)에서 추출한 2,348개 제조업체를 대상으로 동남아 신흥 시장에서 종업원 직무훈련과 혁신 관련 훈련이 제조기업의 노동생산성에 미치는 영향을 실증분석 하였다. 그 결과, 종업원 직무훈련과 혁신 관 련 훈련이 모두 노동생산성에 긍정적인 영향을 끼친다는 것을 발견하였다. 이러한 본 논문의 결과는 기업이 자체적으로 제공하는 종업원 훈련은 인도네시아, 말레이시아, 베트남의 제조기업의 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.
