Above all, what is interesting about director Yang Yonghi's documentaries is the process of continuous recording the trajectory of family history, adding records whenever something new happens to her family members. The previous history of her family was revealed through the latest works “Soup and Ideology” following “Dear Pyongyang” and “Goodbye Pyongyang,” which shows the appearance of the family history connecting Jeju to Pyongyang. These documentaries show the experiential history of Zainichi Koreans. As long as Yang Yonghi, a second-generation resident in Japan, and his nephew Sunhwa, a second-generation North Korean returnee, are connected, her family story is expected to find a point of contact newly in future. 전후 재일사회에 큰 변화를 가져온 대표적인 사건을 꼽으라면, 제주 4･3사건과 북한 ‘귀국사업’(1959∼1984)을 들 수 있을 것이다. 해방 후에 한반도의 남쪽에서 일본으로의 이동을 보여주는 제주 4･3사건과, 냉전시대에 일본에서 한반도의 분단 된 북쪽으로의 이동을 보여주는 ‘귀국사업’이 한 가족에게 일어났다는 사실은 놀 랍다. 그러나 이러한 가족 형태가 재일사회, 특히 오사카에 살고 있는 사람들에게 는 드문 일이 아니다. 이렇게 한반도와 연동된 재일코리안의 현실적인 삶의 모습 이 일본뿐만 아니라 한국에도 잘 알려져 있지 않은 측면이 있기 때문에 양영희 감 독의 가족사가 대중매체인 영화로 제작된 의미는 크다. 무엇보다도 양영희 감독의 다큐멘터리에서 흥미로운 점은 자신의 가족에게 새 로운 일이 생길 때마다 기록을 추가하며 재일코리안의 삶의 궤적을 지속적으로 기 록해 온 프로세스에 있다. <디어 평양>과 <굿바이 평양>에 이은 최신작 <수프와 이데올로기>를 통해 가족의 전사(前史)가 드러나며 제주에서 평양을 잇는 재일 가 족사의 모습이 복원되었다. 양영희 감독의 다큐멘터리는 가족의 생활사 기록을 통 해 자신의 체험적인 재일의 역사를 보여주고 있다. 재일 2세인 양영희와 북한 귀국자 2세인 조카 선화가 연결되어 있는 이상, 그의 가족 이야기는 여기에서 끝나지 않고 다시 이어질 접점을 찾아낼 것으로 기대된다. 양영희 감독의 다큐멘터리는 재일 가족사의 기록을 통해 한반도의 남･북과 일본을 연결하고 확장하는 전기(轉機)를 마련했다고 평가할 수 있다.
