This study verified the effects of perception of community policing to public cooperation with police. In terms of the relationship between variables, this study predicts that citizens who positively perceived community policing positively would show higher willingness to cooperate with the police, and this study also assumes that police trust can positively moderate this relation. As a result of, among the perceptions of community policing, the influence of the perception of police problem solving on the willingness to cooperate with the police was significant, but the influence of the perception of participation police activities was not statistically significant. This result is judged to reflect the reality that municipal police have not yet established in the community. It was verified that the police trust variable independently had a positive influence on the willingness to cooperate with the police, and it was also found that there was a positive moderating effect with the police's perception of problem solving. This study suggests that more community police activities should be developed for citizen. And these activities should be promoted in a wider range to show the revolution of police organization. Ultimately, a virtuous cycle of cooperation should be established to encourage other citizens to engage in participating police activities.

이 연구는 지역사회 경찰활동에 대한 인식이 시민의 경찰협력의사에 영향을 미치는지를 객관적인 분석을 통해 검증하였다. 자치경찰제도의 전면적인 시행이 반년 지난 시점에서 자치경찰제도가 본연 의 목표를 달성해내고 있는지를 확인하기 위함이다. 변수들의 관계에 있어 지역사회 경찰활동을 긍 정적으로 인식하고 있는 시민일수록 경찰에 대한 높은 협력의사를 보일 것으로 예측하였으며, 해당 관계를 경찰신뢰가 긍정적으로 조절할 수 있을 것이라 가정하였다. 분석결과 지역사회 경찰활동에 대한 인식 중 경찰의 문제해결에 대한 인식 이 경찰협력의사에 미 치는 영향력이 유의미하게 나타났으나, 주민참여 경찰활동에 대한 인식의 영향력은 통계적으로 유의 미하지 않았다. 이와 같은 결과는 지역사회 경찰활동 인식이 구체적인 경찰활동의 내용을 목격했는 지에 대하여 묻고 있고 경찰의 문제해결에 대한 인식은 보편적인 경찰활동에 대한 인식을 묻고 있 다는 점에서 지역사회에 자치경찰이 아직 자리 잡지 못하고 있는 현실이 반영된 결과로 판단된다. 경찰신뢰 변수는 독립적으로 경찰협력의사에 정적인 영향력을 미치고 있는 것으로 검증되었으며, 경 찰의 문제해결에 대한 인식과의 정적인 조절효과 또한 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 이상의 연구결과를 통해 시민들이 경찰활동의 패러다임의 변화를 체감하기 위해서는 지역사회에서 더 많은 경찰활동이 전개되어야 하며, 더 넓은 범위에서 홍보될 필요가 있음을 제언한 다. 궁극적으로는, 주민참여형 경찰활동이 지역사회에 적극적으로 홍보됨으로써 또 다른 시민들에게 주민참여형 경찰활동을 독려할 수 있는 민경협력의 선순환체계가 갖춰져야 할 것이다.
