A Study on the Implications of the Career Status of Korean-Chinese Graduates from Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation for Future Translation and Interpreting Education.

With the recent technological development of translation and interpreting and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, rapid changes are happening in the translation and interpreting market. In this context, this study aims to present implications for future translation and interpreting education in order to prevent the mismatch between the educational field and market demand and to identify future directions for translation and interpreting education. To this end, the study reviewed literatures on the future and education of translation and interpreting, and conducted a questionnaire survey of 255 graduates with Korean-Chinese majors from the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, Ewha Womans University, to reflect the voices of interpreters and translators in the field. A total of 88 people participated in the survey. The questionnaire consisted of three parts, including personal information, current career status, and suggestions for educational direction. Based on the literature review and the questionnaire survey, this study presents suggestions for the future translation and interpreting education in terms of educational content and methods.
