In Southeast Asia, performing arts play a role in supporting society as a whole, such as education, philosophy, life and death, not just playing games or aesthetic appreciation. In Southeast Asia, performing arts have a ritual dramatic form that combines elements of dance, music, commentary, and theater. In the early days of Southeast Asia external inflow, instead of shifting to a new situation, the existing local beliefs, traditional ideas such as ‘Nat’, ‘Karma’, ‘Sansara’, ‘Moksha’ and polytheism were firmly and clearly defined. The form of the ritual, designed as an interchangeable ideological representation of the outside and inside, is then settled as a performing art. Performing art reproduces a layered structure that combines external ideas and existing internal styles to create each type, and it is used as a visual tribute. The longing for the invisible soul, the acceptance of the cosmic arrangement, and the reproduction for the expression of polytheistic thought suggest the process, pattern, and type of the formation of the layer of Southeast Asian performing art. Through this study, we reaffirmed that Southeast Asian performing arts are the result of reproduction as the source of ritual essence and thought, and recognized the process and realization of Southeast Asian performing arts.

동남아에서 공연예술은 단순한 유희나 미적 감상이 목적이 아니라 교육, 철학, 삶과 죽음 등 사회전반에 지반을 받치는 역할을 수행한다. 동남아에서 공연예술은 무 용, 음악, 해설, 극의 요소가 어우러진 의례적 극형식을 지니고 있다. 초기 동남아의 외부 유입 신앙은 새로운 판세로의 전환 대신 기존의 토속신앙, 전통사상인 혼, 업, 윤 회, 해탈, 다신 사상 등을 확고하고 선명하게 하였다. 외·내부의 교집합적인 사상 표상 으로 기획된 제의 형식은 이어 공연예술로 안착된다. 공연예술은 외부 사상과 내부 기 존의 양식이 습합되어진 겹겹의 구조를 재생하여 각각의 유형을 만들고 이는 시각적 헌물로 활용된다. 보이지 않은 혼에 대한 갈망, 우주적 배열에 대한 수용, 다신 사상의 화현을 위한 재현 등은 동남아 공연예술의 층층의 성립 과정, 양상, 유형 등을 시사하 고 있다. 본 연구를 통해 동남아 공연예술이 제의적 본질과 사상의 근원으로 재현된 결 과물임을 재확인하고 동남아 공연예술 발현사상과 실현양태를 인지하였다.
