Purpose : Explore the development of ten provinces in China with the help of ESG research methodology, so as to study the reasons for regional and provincial differences and the direction of development. Research design, data, methodology : Based on MSCI's ESG rating idea, a macro ESG index system with 30 sub-indicators of three criteria (environment, society and governance) was constructed, and 10 provinces in eastern, central and southern China were evaluated. Results : The study found that Guangdong Province had the best overall performance and the highest environmental and social scores, while Zhejiang Province had the second highest overall score and the best performance in governance. Overall, the eastern region outperformed the central and southern regions. Conclusions : To comprehensively evaluate the causes of uneven development among regions in China, especially from the economic, social, environmental and governance perspectives, and to fully explore the developable directions and economic growth points of relatively backward regions.

본 논문은 MSCI의 ESG 등급 아이디어를 바탕으로 3가지 기준(환경, 사회, 거버넌스) 및 하위 30개 지표로 구성된 매크로 ESG 지수 체계를 구축해 중국 동부와 중부, 남부 10개 성을 대상 으로 ESG 경영상태를 평가하여 보았다. 본 조사 결과 광둥성은 종합성과와 환경·사회성 점수 가 가장 높았고, 저장성은 종합점수 2위, 거버넌스 성과 1위를 차지한 것으로 나타났다. 광시좡 족자치구는 환경 방면에서 점수가 매우 높지만, 총체적인 점수가 낮은 것은 사회 통치와 경제 발전의 질 방면에서 아직 발전의 여지가 매우 크다는 것을 보여준다. 분석 결과 전체적으로 중국 동부 지역이 중부권과 남부권을 앞질렀다. 이를 바탕으로 우리기 업의 대 중국 현지진출 및 각종 비즈니스에 있어서 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이며, 대 중 국 진출 전략을 수립시 긍정적 자료로서의 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것이다.
