This study was conducted to examine the experiences of family relationships that multicultural young adult experience in families and examines how multicultural young adult family relationship affect in transition. In order to explore the experiences of multicultural young adults, 12 young adults who were born in Korea or immigrated were recruited as research participants. A consensus qualitative research method was used to explore multicultural young adults’s family adaptation and communication experiences. The interview was conducted in a semi-structured format for an average of about 60 to 70 minutes. In order to secure the validity of the research results, two experts received opinions on the appropriateness of the broad fields and categories derived from the research. Finally, 5 domains and 18 categories were derived: ‘Various experiences with family members in the growth process of youth born in Korea.' ‘Formation of a new family and experiences within the mid-immigrant youth.', ‘Cultural adaptation and family relationship experience of foreign parents.’, ‘Effect of the family on identity formation and growth of youth with migration background in the transition period.’ ‘Acceptance of bi-culture due to positive experiences in parent and family.’Based on the results of this study, the experiences of youth with migratory backgrounds in their young adults families were described, and the implications of the role of family relationships in identity formation were described. It was suggested that a study on multicultural young adults is necessary.

본 연구는 다문화 가정 청년들이 청년기 가족 안에서 경험하는 가족관계 경험을 탐 색하여 다문화 가정 청년들의 가족 관계가 성인 전환기에 있는 청년들에게 어떤 영향 을 미치는지 확인하기 위한 목적으로 진행되었다. 다문화 가정 청년들의 경험을 탐색 하기 위해 국내출생과 중도입국 다문화 가정 청년 12명을 연구 참가자로 모집하였다. 분석을 위해서 합의적 질적 연구(CQR) 방법을 사용하였으며, 반 구조화된 형식으로 평 균적으로 약 60~70분의 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 연구결과 ‘국내출생 청년들의 성장과정 에서 가족 구성원과 다양한 경험’, ‘중도입국 청년들의 새로운 가족형성과 그 안에서의 경험’, ‘외국인 부모의 문화적응과 가족관계 경험’, ‘다문화 가정 청년들의 이중문화 수 용에 가족이 미친 영향’, ‘다문화 가정 청년들의 정체성 형성과 성장에 가족이 미친 영 향’의 5개 영역과 18개 범주가 도출되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 가정 청 년들의 청년기 가족 안에서의 경험을 살펴보고 정체성 형성에 가족관계의 역할에 대한 시사점을 논하였다.
