This paper attempted a multi-faceted analysis based on literature historical data and style of work on the bell from 1642 of Shrines and Temples of Nikko, Japan, which had not received much attention in Korean bells history due to disagreement with the production country. Through the study, it was confirmed that this bell was made in Joseon and sent to the Edo Shogunate of Japan. This bell was one of the items demanded by the Japanese Edo Shogunate to Joseon Dynasty in January 1642 along with the Tripitaka, plaques, poetry and prose works, incense burners, and candlesticks to maintain permanent friendship between the two countries and donate to the newly established Tosho Daigongen(東照大権現). At the request of Japan, the bell was produced on February 17, 1642, and was completed before October 28, 1642. The following year, on 26 February 1643, it was moved to Daemado Island and enshrined in Shrines and Temples of Nikko, on 17 May via a waterway. Making of this bell was led by the crafts master of Joseon, but the design of the bell was made in Japan, so it is characterized by the expression of both Korean and Japanese bell styles. The characteristics of the Korean bell are twin dragon bell handles, lotus-shaped decorations on the ceiling, a statue of a magnificent statue of a Bodhisattva. Characteristics of the Japanese bells are a lotus statue with a thick bell opening outside, 12 lotus figures inside the lotus flower, and a statue of Buddhist Boy Attendants riding crane. In particular, the expression of Komano-tsume among the styles of Japanese bells is influenced by the types of bells which were temporarily produced in Fukuoka and other places during the Muromachi period. On the other hand, the seal of this bell also influenced the Japanese style of the bell, a typical example of which was the 1667 Jovayama bell in Shrines and Temples of Mito. The Shrines and Temples of Nikko's bell in Japan is most similar to the bell made by Korean bell craft master Kim Yong-am, who was actively produced from the 1640s to the 1660s, including a detailed expression of the bell, a lotus design covering the entire hemispherical ceiling, and dragon and cloud patterns. Therefore, the crafts master is presumed to be Kim Yong-am, and is regarded as a valuable resource for systematically studying 17th-century bells
