This paper focuses on a series of conflicts situations centered on Jeondo-gwan lawsuit in the late 1950s and tries to confirm the grammer of religious distinctions in Korean society. we first look at the background of the lawsuit. Jeondo-gwan was composed mainly of Elder Park Tae seon, who was a charismatic leader. After separation from Presbyterian church, Jeondo-gwan had been walking on own path, was embroiled in a lawsuit due to incidents related to ‘Anchal’ and accusations made by the defecters. We reconstruct the course of the lawsuit through newspapers that reported this case at the time. Based on this, the media’s attitudes and legal judgments related to the trial and the implications of the government’s actions were identified. It is confirmed that Jeondo-gwan, which was packed with ‘cult’, ‘pagan’, ‘heretic’, was defined as not only within Protestantism but also as a social other.

이 글은 1950년대 후반 전도관을 중심으로 일어난 일련의 갈등 상황에 주목하고 이를 통해 서 우리 사회의 종교 구별 짓기의 문법을 확인하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 우선 당시 전도관의 출 현 배경을 살펴보았다. 전도관은 개신교 부흥회가 성황이었던 당시에 카리스마를 가진 평신도 였던 박태선 장로를 주축으로 구성되었던 개신교계 단체였다. 대한예수교장로회의 ‘이단’ 결 정 후에 독자적인 노선을 걷던 전도관은 ‘안찰’과 관련된 사건과 탈퇴자들의 고소로 인해 송사 에 휘말리게 된다. 우리는 당시 이 사건을 보도했던 신문과 잡지들을 통해서 소송의 내용과 그 에 관한 담론을 객관적으로 재구성했다. 이를 바탕으로 소송과 관련된 언론의 태도와 법적 판 단 그리고 정부의 조치가 가진 의미가 무엇인지를 파악하고자 했다. 결론적으로 ‘사교’, ‘이단’ 등의 개념으로 낙인된 전도관은 종교와 언론 그리고 정부에 의해서 종교적인 타자로 규정되었 음을 확인할 수 있었다.
