This paper tried to attempted to examine a his view of life through essays about traditional architecture created by Lee Kyu-bo(1168-1241). 17 works is related to architecture included in 『Dongguk-yisanggukjip(東國李相國集)』. These are divided into those for establishing relations with the ruler, those related to the space in which he stays, and writed for the people who are acquainted with himself. In his article, he has consistently commented on not competing for fame and fortune. However, this not mean that he satisfied at the time or wantwd to stay in nature. Rather, he said that serving official posts and contributing to the country and coordination is an act of following human nature. In addition, while giving favorable reviews that everything is arranged to fit in the perfect moment for each, it considered as an important part the nature of 'Clean[淸淨]'. Clean refers to a state in which there is no vulgarity and no anguish, and it is also in contact with the realization of the Buddha. He's focus on the clean attributes and disappearance of human inner anguish is in line with he's attitude of life not competing for fame and fortune.

본고는 고려 무신 집권기 문인 이규보(李奎報, 1168~1241)가 건축물을 대상으로 창작한 기문(記文)을 통해 그의 인생관을 고찰하고자 하였다. 『동국이상국집』에 수록된 기문 중 건축물과 관련된 17편의 작품은 크게 집권자와의 우호적 관계 설정을 위한 것, 자신이 머무는 공간에 대한 것, 친분이 있는 이를 위해 지은 것으로 나눌 수 있다. 이규보는 기문을 통해 명리를 다투지 않는 것에 대해 꾸준히 언급하 고 있다. 그러나 이것은 현재에 만족하거나 자연 속에서 은거하겠다는 의미는 아니다. 오히려 그는 출사하여 나라와 조정에 보탬이 되는 것이 인간의 본성을 따르는 것이라고 하였다. 또, 만물이 각각의 때에 맞추어 적절하게 배치되어 있는 것을 호평하면서, ‘청정(淸淨)’의 속성을 중요하 게 생각하는 양상을 보인다. 청정은 속되지 않고 번뇌가 없는 상태를 이 르는 말로, 불가의 깨달음과도 닿아있다. 이규보가 자연의 맑고 깨끗한 속성과 인간 내면의 번뇌가 사라지는 것에 중심을 두고 있는 것은 당대 인들의 불교적 사유의 일면인 동시에 이규보가 견지했던 명리를 다투지 않는 삶의 자세와도 맞닿아 있다고 하겠다.
