This study analyzes the effect of changes in the educational environment on the student performance and lifestyle of elementary school students due to COVID-19. It shows that student performance decreases by 7-10% in Korean and math, and the negative impact is greater on students in lower grades, low-income households, and mother’s low-educational households. In addition, negative effects are found on children's social development and long-term performance. In conclusion, for effective online education in the future, stable support for education supply and demand, for the socially disadvantaged, and linkage with the labor market are judged to be important.

본 연구는 코로나19 발발에 따른 교육환경의 변화가 초등학생의 학습 및 생활에 미친 영향을 분석하여 코로나19 장기화에 대비하기 위한 효과적인 정책방안을 모색하였다. 실증분석에는 초등학생의 학업 성적과 생활에 관한 자료 부재로 초등학생 자녀를 둔 여성 1,000명 대상의 설문조사를 수행하며 그 영향을 추정하였다. 분석 결과, 코로나19로 인해 초등학생의 국어, 수학 수준이 7~10% 정도 낮아졌고, 저학년, 저소득 가구, 여성 학력 수준이 낮은 가구의 학생들에게서 부정적 영향이 더 크게 나타났다. 아울러 아이들의 사회성 발달과 장기적 성과에도 부정적 영향이 발견되었다. 결론적으로 향후 비대면 온라인 교육의 효과적인 진행을 위해서는 교육 공급과 수요 측면에 대한 안정적 지원과 사회적 취약 계층에 대한 정책적 지원이 중요할 것으로 판단된다.
