Historical and cultural resources are a broad concept that encompasses spaces, buildings, and natural environments that form a regional identity by preserving historical and cultural properties. The comprehensive investigation of historical and cultural resources in Gangwon-do was planned to prepare a policy basis for the overall preservation, management, and utilization of historical and cultural resources and to secure basic data, and has already been carried out in 2020. As a result of the total investigation, about 679 modern cultural heritages of Gangwon-do were found, and these are candidates to be designated as modern cultural assets of Gangwon-do in the future. Therefore, with this full investigation as an opportunity, Gangwon-do and each local government should thoroughly carry out systematic preservation, management, and supervision of modern cultural heritage.

역사문화자원이란 역사성, 문화성을 간직하여 지역의 정체성을 형성하는 공간, 건조물, 자연환경 등을 아우르는 광의의 개념이다. 강원도 역사문화자원 전수조사는 역사문화자원의 총체적 보존, 관리, 활용을 위한 정책 기반 마련 및 기초자료 확보를 위해 계획되어 2020년 이미 진행 완료되었다. 전수조사 결과, 강원도 근대 문화유산은 약 679건으로 나타났으며, 이들은 향후 강원도 근대 문화재로 지정될 후보들이다. 따라서, 금번 전수조사를 계기 로, 강원도 및 각 지자체는 근대 문화유산에 대한 체계적인 보존, 관리, 감독을 철저히 수행하여야 할 것이다.
