Child abuse incidents are constantly occurring in our society. Taking an interest in social issues and protecting the socially disadvantaged is the church's mission and responsibility, and it is the core of Christian identity. But now, the church has been indifferent to the child abuse issues that constantly arise in our society, and has neglected efforts to protect children from child abuse. This study was conducted with the purpose of systematically reviewing the phenomenon of child abuse and exploring the role of the church in preventing and resolving the child abuse problem based on the biblical perspective on the nature of children and child abuse. The biblical perspective on the nature of children and child abuse can be summarized as follows. First, children are divine and independent beings created in the image of God and possessing full humanity and dignity. In addition, children are models of entering the kingdom of God and are representation of Jesus, and are special objects of love, care, and hospitality. The act of abusing children is a serious sin of performing injustice on the divine image of God and the body of Jesus Christ. Based on this biblical perspective of the nature of child and child abuse, this study suggested the role of the church in the prevention and resolution of child abuse.

아동학대 사건들이 우리 사회에서 끊임없이 발생하고 있다. 사회문제 에 관심을 두고 사회적 약자를 보호하는 것은 교회의 사명이자 책무이며 그리스도인들의 정체성의 핵심이다. 그러나 현재의 교회는 우리 사회에서 끊임없이 일어나는 잔혹하고 반인륜적인 아동학대 문제에 대해서는 무관 심하였고, 학대로부터 아동을 보호하기 위한 노력은 소홀하였다. 본 논문 은 아동학대 문제를 체계적으로 고찰하고, 아동 존재의 본질과 아동학대 에 대한 성서적, 신학적 관점을 찾아 아동학대 예방 및 해결을 위한 교회의 역할을 모색하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 성서를 통해 살펴본 아동 존 재의 의미와 아동학대에 대한 관점을 요약하면, 아동은 하나님의 형상대로 창조되어 온전함과 존엄성을 가진 신성하고 독립된 존재이고 하나님 나라 를 소유할 수 있는 자의 모범이자 예수의 대리자로 사랑과 돌봄, 환대의 특 별한 대상이다. 이러한 아동 존재를 학대하는 행위는 하나님의 신성한 형 상과 예수 그리스도의 몸에 불의를 행하는 중한 죄악이다. 이상의 아동 존 재 본질과 아동학대에 대한 성서적 이해를 바탕으로 아동학대 문제 예방 및 해결을 위한 교회와 그리스도인들의 실천 방안을 제시하였다
