The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of dental hygienists' fear caused by COVID-19 on psychological distress, job satisfaction, and turnover intention. A conceptual research model was proposed based on previous studies and literature review. The questionnaire surveyed dental hygienists working in dental hospitals and clinics. A total of 210 questionnaires were collected, and 201 copies were analyzed using structural equations, excluding 9 questionnaires that could not be used for statistical analysis. As a result of the analysis, the COVID-19 fear level was investigated as a factor influencing positive (+) on psychological distress, but it was analyzed that it did not affect job satisfaction. Psychological distress was found to have a negative (-) effect on job satisfaction, and was analyzed as a factor that had a positive (+) effect on turnover intention. Also, job satisfaction was found to have a negative (-) effect on turnover intention. As a result of the analysis, the dental hygienist found that psychological stress can be aggravated in an infectious disease risk environment, which can affect patient treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a safe work environment and to relieve work stress in order to reduce the turnover rate of dental hygienists during the epidemic of novel infectious diseases such as COVID-19.

본 연구는 COVID-19 팬더믹 상황에서, 감염병에 직접적인 노출이 불가피한 직무환경에서 근무하는 치과위생사들의 COVID-19에 대한 두려 움 수준이 심리적 디스트레스, 직무만족, 이직의도에 미치는 영향과 각 요인들 간의 인과관계를 통합적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선행 연구와 문헌고찰을 통하여 연구모형을 도출하였고 연구를 위해 전국 치과 병·의원에 근무하는 치과위생사를 대상으로 실증조사를 실시하였다. 설문은 총 210부를 회수하였고, 설문지 9부를 제외한 201부를 구조방정식을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 COVID-19 두려움 수준이 심리적 디 스트레스에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 요인으로 조사되었으나 직무만족에는 직접적인 영양을 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 심리적 디스트레스 는 직무만족에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 이직의도에는 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 요인으로 분석되었다, 또한 직무만족은 이직의도에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 치과위생사는 COVID-19와 같은 감염병에 노출 위험성이 높은 직업군으로 직무수행과정에서 정신적 스트레스가 가중되고 환자 치료에 영향을 미칠 수 있기 때문에 COVID-19와 같은 신종감염병 유행 시기에 치과위생사의 이직률 감소를 위하여 심리적 디스트레스를 줄이고 정신건강을 증진하기 위해서 효율적이고 안전한 근무 환경 마련 및 업무 스트레스 해소를 위한 노력이 필요할 것으 로 생각된다.
