Objectives The purpose of this study is to philosophically explore the physicality of dance from the perspective of Merleau-Ponty phenomenology. Methods Analysis of Discourse in Qualitative Research Methods Results Merleau-Ponty can systematize phenomenological thinking about the body, that is, the body frame, in the sense of time and space, and it can be said that it provides an analysis frame. When interpreted in this context, dance is a body-based area, and it can be expected that it can be revealed as a performance embodied in various types through training or teaching in artistic and educational aspects. Conclusions Dance implies that it is an aesthetic medium that makes human life beautiful. Therefore, physicality can be assumed that everyday life is revealed as a body in time based on aesthetic sensitivity. Therefore, it mentions the need for a philosophical approach of researchers who can reflectively understand and perform the body's subjectivity revealed in dance.

본 연구는 메를로 퐁티의 현상학관점으로 무용의 신체성을 철학적으로 탐색하고자 하는데 목적을 둔다. 메를로 퐁티 는 신체 즉, 몸틀에 대한 현상학적 사고를 시간성과 공간의 의미로 체계화 할 수 있는데 분석틀을 제공한다고 하겠다. 이러한 맥락으로 해석할 때 무용은 신체를 기반으로 한 영역으로 예술적 측면과 교육적 측면에서 훈련 또는 교수과정 을 통해 다양한 유형으로 체화된 연행성으로 드러날 수 있을 것으로 예상할 수 있다. 이에 무용에서 드러나는 신체성은 무대에서 상연되어지는 몸과 일상에서의 몸의 의미가 상반된 의미가 아니라 안무가의 삶의 의미가 투영된 것으로 이해 할 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 무용은 인간의 삶을 아름답게 행위 할 수 있도록 만드는 미적 매개체임을 내포하고 있다. 때문에 신체성은 일상의 삶이 미적 감수성을 바탕으로 시간성으로 몸으로 드러남을 짐작할 수 있다. 따라서 무용에서 드러나는 몸의 주체성을 성찰적으로 이해하고 상연할 수 있는 연구자들의 철학적 접근의 필요성을 언급하고 있다.
