The purpose of this study is to prepare basic data for the future resident-led folk art festival by considering the local cultural festival in Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, which has a rich natural environment and is evaluated as a treasure trove of folk art. This study examined Jindo's historical resources, natural environment, folk culture, and art resources, and examined the Jindo Mysterious Sea Road Festival, Jindo Arirang Festival, Jindo Culture and Arts Festival, Jindo Dog Festival, and Myeongnyang Battle Festival, considered the change in the number of visitors to major tourist attractions in Jindo and the travel trends of visitors to Gwangju and Jeonnam, the directions of the Jindo Folk Art Festival were presented as follows. First, a natural experience festival that urban residents have not experienced. Second, a festival that tells the story of Jindo's historical resources. Third, Jindo residents-led experience festival. Fourth, convergence and complex festivals through storytelling of festival resources. Fifth, a festival where young lovers can visit. Sixth, a festival where people walk slowly through ecotourism. Seventh, a specialty-based food festival.

본고는 풍부한 자연환경을 지니고 있으며, 민속예술의 보고(寶庫)라는 평가를 받고 있는 전 라남도 진도군의 향토문화 축제를 고찰하여 향후 주민주도형 민속예술축제로 나가기 위한 기초자료를 마련하는 것이 목적이다. 본고는 진도의 역사자원과 자연환경, 민속･문화･예술 자원 등을 고찰하고, 진도 신비의 바닷길 축제, 진도아리랑 축제와 진도문화예술제, 진돗개 페스티벌, 명량대첩축제 등을 살펴보았으며, 진도 주요 관광지 방문객 수의 변화와 광주･전 남 방문객의 여행 트랜드를 고찰하여 진도 민속예술축제의 방향성을 다음과 같이 7가지로 제시하였다. 첫째, 도시민이 경험하지 못한 자연체험 축제, 둘째, 진도의 역사자원을 스토리 텔링한 축제. 셋째, 진도주민 주도형 체험 축제. 넷째, 축제자원의 스토리텔링을 통한 융･복 합축제. 다섯째, 젊은 연인이 찾아올 수 있는 축제. 여섯째, 생태관광으로 천천히 걷는 축제. 일곱째, 특산물 기반 먹거리 축제.
