Organizations are basically constructed by individuals and one of the most important purposes of studying organizations is creating and achieving organizational effectiveness. A great deal of attention has been consistently paid to job satisfaction and organizational commitment as attitudinal components affecting organizational effectiveness. Nevertheless, those investigations concerning the study of absenteeism or commitment have been conducted at the level of individual behavior. This paper examines the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment in the organizational dimension. In order to examine those effects, this study conducts factor analysis and multiple-regression analysis. 2006 Federal Human Capital Survey (FHCS) conducted by the United States Office of Personnel Management is used. This study implies that job satisfaction improves their organizational commitment.

조직은 기본적으로 개인으로 구성되어 있으며, 조직연구과 관련한 중요한 목표 중 하나는 조직의 효율성과 조직 운영의 효과성을 높이는 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 직무만족과 조직헌신에 대한 연구가 지속되어 오고 있음에도, 결근, 직무만족이나 헌신에 대한 부분이 개인수준의 문제로 치부되는 경향이 종종 있다. 그리하여 본 연구는 개인의 조직만족도가 조직 헌신에 미치는 영향을 조직차원의 요인을 함께 고려하여 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 2006년에 실시된 연방 인적자본(2006 Federal Human Capital Survey) 설문을 활용하여, 요인분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 직무만족이 조직헌신에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
