Since the division of Korea, we have taken continuous steps towards peace, coexistence, co-prosperity, and further unification of the North and South Korea. In the process of seeking peace, coexistence, and unification through mutual evolution between the South and the North, the generation that will be the subject of these steps and efforts will be the MZ generation. Therefore, through education for peace and unification, it is important for our future to develop the MZ generation's competency to lead the path of peace, coexistence and co-prosperity and unification beyond the antagonism and mistrust between the North and South Korea. Based on the cohort approach, this study tried to examine the everyday value orientation and consciousness of the MZ generation, as well as the consciousness of peace and unification, and the educational plan to raise the awareness of unification accordingly. For this purpose, first, this article examines the growth process, basic consciousness, and value orientation of the MZ generation. Second, based on this, the general trend and characteristics of the MZ generation's unification consciousness were examined. Third, it was attempted to derive and propose a plan to raise the awareness of unification in line with the daily value orientation, attitude, and lifestyle of the MZ generation.

분단 이후 우리는 남북이 평화와 공존, 공영, 그리고 나아가 통일을 위한 장기적인 발걸음을 실천하여 왔다. 남과 북이 서로 진화과정을 통해 평화와 상생, 통일을 추구하는 과정에서, 이러한 발걸음과 노력의 주체가 될 세대는 MZ세대가 될 것이다. 따라서 평화와 통일을 위한 교육을 통해 MZ세대가 남북간의 반목과 불신을 넘어 평화와 공존공영, 통일의 길을 이끌어 가기 위한 역량을 신장시키는 것은 우리의 미래에 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 이러한 문제 의식 하에 본 논문은 코호트적 접근에 기반하여 MZ세대의 일상적 가치 지향과 의식, 그리고 평화와 통일에 관한 의식을 살펴보고, 이에 부응하는 통일의식 제고를 위한 교육 방안에 대해 살펴보 고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이 글은 첫째, MZ세대의 성정과정과 기본적인 의식, 가치지향을 살펴보고, 둘째, 이 를 기반으로 MZ세대의 통일의식에 대해 전반적 추세와 특징을 고찰하며, 셋째, MZ세대의 일상적 가치지향 과 태도, 생활양식에 부합하는 통일의식 제고 방안을 도출, 제안하고자 한다.
