This study seeks to analyze the identity of “difference” and “universal orientation” found in the novel Beautiful Name written by Megumu Sagisawa, for a better understanding of Zainichi, Koreans living in Japan. Meugumu Sagisaga was an author who raised the question of diversity by expressing the meaning of “name” in various ways as a part of the answer that how different people coexist while covering conflicts and issues suffered by the young generation of Zainichi in their daily lives. A distinctive and common feature of her works is that the name does not only represent an individual’s identity but is a factor in determining their existence and life as a member of a community. For the protagonist in the novel, the name is a universal principle that can lead to thoughts about everything and is accepted as a signifier that contains two lives at the border between Korea and Japan. In other words, the name is the center of the hierarchical system that establishes the essence of one person and determines their relationship and life. This paper follows the protagonist’s anxious selfintroduction and her worries about the name in “Sky through Glasses”. In “Hometown Spring”, this paper reviews the communication between “he” and “me” remaining in the memory of the others. By looking into the “ordinary Zainichi Koreans” living with ordinary Japanese, this paper aims to present an opportunity to observe the new perception and life of Zainichi.

본 연구는 사기사와 메구무의 『뷰티풀 네임』을 통해 일본 사회에서 재일 한국인이라는 특수성을 지닌 인물들이 주변 사람들과 겪는 갈등 속에서 공동체의 일원으로 살아가려는 모습 을 살펴보고자 한다. 사기사와 메구무는 재일 현세대의 일상적인 고뇌와 갈등을 변주하면서 공생하기 위한 방법의 일환으로 ‘이름’에 대한 감각을 다각적으로 표현하며 일본 사회에 다양 성의 공존이라는 화두를 던진 작가이다. 그녀의 작품에서 이름의 문제는 개인의 정체성을 모색하는 것에 그치지 않고, 공동체의 일원이 되는 문제와 삶의 모습을 결정짓는 요인이라는 점이 특징적이다. 소설 속 주인공에게 이름은 한국과 일본 양국의 경계에서 두 개의 삶의 궤 적을 담는 기표로 받아들여지고 있다. 즉 이름은 본인의 본질을 구축하고 관계와 삶을 결정 짓는 위계적 체계의 중심이 되고 있다. 이를 위해 ｢안경 너머로 본 하늘｣에 나타난 주인공의 불안한 자기소개의 시간과 이름에 대한 고민을 추적할 것이다. ｢고향의 봄｣에서는 타자의 기억속에 그려진 ‘그’와 ‘나’의 소통에 대해 살펴본다. 따라서 보통의 일본인들과 함께 살아가는 ‘평범한 재일 한국인’의 모습을 조명하는 문제는 재일 한국인 세대의 새로운 인식과 삶을 살펴보는 계기가 될 것이다.
