This paper aims at quantitatively analyzing the frequency of respective meanings of “iss-ta/eop-ta,” similarities and differences of its aspects in usage through Corpus. “iss-ta/eop-ta” is considered as complementary antonym by many people, and they are symmetrical in usage. However, through the quantitative analysis of this paper, it can be found out that they not only have similarities but also have some differences as well. The reason of the appearance of this kind of similarity is caused by that the basic meaning of “iss-ta/eop-ta” is complementary. The reason of differences is, “eop-ta” can only be used at the partial expression forms which are on the premise of “iss-ta,” while “iss-ta” can not only be used at the overall expression forms containing “oep-ta” but also the partial expressive forms which aren't consist of “eop-ta.”

본고의 목적은 코퍼스를 통하여 ‘있다/없다’의 의미별 빈도, 사용 양상의 공통점과 차이점 을 계량적으로 분석하는 데 있다. ‘있다’와 ‘없다’는 많은 사람들이 상보적 반의 관계로 대칭되 는 사용양상을 보일 거라고 생각한다. 하지만 본고의 계량적 분석 결과 의미적‧화용적‧통사적 인 측면에서 공통점도 있었지만 차이점도 적지 않았다. 이러한 공통점이 나타나는 원인은 ‘있 다’와 ‘없다’의 기본의미가 상보적이기 때문이고, 차이점이 나타나는 원인은 ‘없다’는 ‘있다’를 전제로 한 부분적 표현에만 가능하고, ‘있다’는 ‘없다’를 포함한 전체적 표현, ‘없다’를 포함하 지 않은 부분적 표현 모두 가능하기 때문인 것으로 보인다.
