The state of Banpa appears in literature as a small state that fought in a three-year war with Baekje and causing huge damages to the frontier areas of Silla using beacon fires. The structure of Gaya beacon fires and its beacon fire systems were restored to a significant level using archaeological data accumulated in the eastern Jeonbuk region. Originally, the area of Banpa included Jangsu-gun in the Geumgang River Basin area, and Ancheon-myeon and Donghyang-myeon of Jinan-gun, and Muju-eup, Anseong-myeon, Jeoskang-myeon, Bunam-myeon, and Seolcheon-myeon of Muju-gun, and it shared borders with Baekje at Geumgang River and with Silla at Namdaecheon River. When Baekje fell into political instability for a while after moving its capital to Ungjin, it entered the Baekje territories at Jinan-gun and Chungnam-gun, and at its peak, it spread beyond the Geumnam Range to the northeastern parts of Wanju-gun to form a border with Baekje at the Geumnam Range. For three years since 513, it wages a three-year war against Baekje being fitted with military zones and ambassadors as it entered the Seomjingang River Basin at Namwon-si, Imsil-gun, and Sunchang-gun, while also building Gaya beacon fire networks even in the Seomjingang River Basin area. The Gaya beacon fire network provided the support necessary for Banpa to enter the Seomjingang River Basin. It is intended to include the Gaya beacon fire network of eastern Jeonbuk in literature to determine Jangsu Gaya based in the Geumgang River upstream area as the state of Banpa.

문헌에 반파국은 봉후(화)를 이용하여 백제와 3년 전쟁을 치르고 신라 변방에 커다란 피해를 준 가야 소국으로 등장한다. 이제까지 전북 동부에서 축적된 고고학 자료로 가야 봉화의 구조와 봉화체제도 상당부분 복원됐다. 본래 반파국의 영역은 금강유역의 장수군과 진안군 상전면·동향면·안천면, 무주군 무주읍·안성면·적상면· 부남면·설천면으로 금강에서 백제와 남대천에서 신라와 국경선이 형성됐다. 백제 가 웅진으로 도읍을 옮긴 이후 한동안 정치 불안에 빠지자 백제 영역인 진안군과 충남군 일대로 진출했고, 최전성기에는 금남정맥을 넘어 완주군 동북부까지 진출 하여 금만정맥에서 백제와 국경을 마주했다. 513년부터 3년 동안 기문, 대사를 두 고 백제와 3년 전쟁을 치르면서 남원시와 임실군, 순창군 등 섬진강유역으로 진출 하여 섬진강유역에도 가야 봉화망을 구축했다. 가야 봉화망으로 반파국의 섬진강 유역 진출을 뒷받침해 주었다. 전북 동부 가야 봉화망을 문헌에 접목시켜 금강 최 상류에 지역적인 기반을 둔 장수가야를 반파국으로 비정했다.
