The purpose of this study is to explore whether childbirth experience may cause unmet healthcare needs among women and to identify risk factors affecting the unmet healthcare needs between women with and without childbirth experience. This study used the data of Korean medical panel (2009-2018) to compare groups with and without childbirth experience within concerned period. The result of the study indicates that women after childbirth are at greater risk of experiencing unmet needs for healthcare than those who don’t have any childbirth experience. Compared to the group without childbirth experience, the factors related to unmet healthcare needs for women with childbirth experience are younger age group (aged 20-29 years), with lower level of education (Non-completion of upper secondary school), without a personal pension plan, but with medical pain. This suggests that it is necessary to consider increasing tendency of women’s unmet healthcare needs after childbirth. We need a systematic attention to each step of lifecycle of women to decrease their experience of unmet needs for healthcare.

본 연구는 한국의료패널(2009-2018) 자료를 활용하여 출산이 여성의 미충족 의료 경험에 미치는 영향을 연구하기 위해서 출산 경험 여성과 출산 미경험 여성을 대상으로 미충족 의료 경험 여부를 확인하고, 각 군 간에 미충족 의료 경험에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지 분석하고자 하였다. 앤더슨의 행동모델을 기반으로 그룹간 미 충족 의료 영향 요인을 분석한 결과, 출산 경험 여성이 출산 미경험 여성보다 미충족 의료 경험할 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 출산 경험 여성의 미충족 의료 경험에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인으로는 연령(20대), 교육 수 준(고졸 이하), 민간연금 가입 여부, 통증 및 불편 여부로 나타나, 출산 미경험 여성의 경우와는 다른 양상을 보였 다. 출산이 여성의 의료이용에 영향을 끼치며, 특히 고연령일수록 미충족 의료 경험 가능성이 높다는 선행연구와 는 다르게 도출되었다. 이를 바탕으로 여성 건강을 임신 및 출산 시기를 중심 시기가 아닌 생애주기적 관점으로 바라보고, 보다 현실적이고 효율적인 정책 수립의 필요성을 제언한다.
