The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a suicide prevention program on pain, depression, meaning of life, and suicidal ideation of low-income women aged 80 or older in rural area. A non-equivalent control group pre—post test study design was used. The participants were 89 women, aged 80 or older of a project for employment from O & K province. (experimental group = 45, control group = 44). The experimental group were participated in a total of eight-session, once a week. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, χ2-test, t-test using SPSS 26.0 program. After a eight-week of intervention, the experimental group showed significant differences in depression (t=-2.19, p =.031), meaning of life (t=2.13, p =.036), and suicidal ideation (t=-2.11, p =.038). Therefore, the study program has proven to be effective in reducing depression and suicidal ideation, and improving the meaning of life of participants.

본 연구의 목적은 자살예방프로그램이 농촌에 거주하는 저소득 80세 이상 여성 노인의 통증, 우울, 삶의 의미 및 자살 생각에 미치는 효과를 파악하는 것이다. 본 연구는 비동등성 대조군 전후설계를 이용하였다. 연구 대상자는 O와 G 지역에 거주하며 노인 일자리 사업에 참여 중인 80세 이상 여성 노인 89명이다(실험군=45명, 대조군=44명). 실험군은 주 1회, 총 8회기의 자살예방프로그램에 참여하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 26.0 프로그램을 이용하여 서술통계, χ2-test, t-test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 중재 후 실험군과 대조군 간에 우울(t=-2.19, p =.031), 삶의 의미(t=2.13, p =.036), 자살생각(t=-2.11, p =.038)에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 따라서 본 연구의 프로그램은 대상자의 삶의 의미 증가, 우울과 자살생각의 감소에 유의한 효과가 있음이 확인되었다.
