Although many researches have been conducted on Ecocity, one of the sustainable city models, fostering a Korean tailored Ecocity has proven to be difficult, therefore study into how to use Fengshui theory has begun. In this article, a pool of Fengshui-Ecocity indicators spanning six areas of 'skyline', 'open space,' 'ecological network,' 'water,' 'road,' and 'cultural contents' has been generated by integrating indicators utilised by municipalities such as Changwon and then extracting relevant indicators to Fengshui. The application of these indicators to Ilsan new city, one of the first phase new cities, has demonstrated the utility of this pool of indicators. The traditional Fengshui philosophy played an important part in selecting and developing capital cities of Koryo and Chosun dynasties. For its application to contemporary urban planning, a modernisation work of the Fengshui theory should begin by assuring flexibility of the traditional Fengshui theory's logics while avoiding ambiguity.

지속가능한 도시의 일환인 생태도시에 관한 많은 연구가 있었으나, 한국형 생태도시를 육 성하는 데는 미흡하여 풍수를 활용하는 방안이 연구되기 시작하였다. 본 논문에서는 창원 등 의 지자체에서 활용되고 있는 생태도시 지표를 종합하고, 이들 지표 중 풍수와의 연관성이 있 는 지표를 추출하고 이들 지표와 연계될 수 있는 풍수 생태도시 지표를 경관, 오픈스페이스, 생태네트워크, 물, 도로, 문화컨텐츠 이상 6개 영역에 걸쳐 개발하고 이들 지표를 1기 신도시 중의 하나인 일산신도시에 적용해 봄으로써 지표의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다. 고려와 조선 의 수도를 결정하는 데 결정적인 역할을 한 도시의 입지와 개발에 관련된 우리 전통의 논리이 자 사상인 풍수가 현대 도시계획 분야에서 보다 더 적극적으로 활용되기 위해서는 풍수의 모 호성을 최대한 배제하는 동시에 전통 풍수 논리의 유연성을 확보할 수 있는 풍수의 현대화 작업을 진행해야 할 것이다.
