This article reviews Rosa Luxemburg‘s theories on democratic socialism as an effort to overcome the limitations of the two traditional socialist models -i.e. ‘state socialism' and ‘social democracy'- and by which to reconstruct a true sense of ‘third-generation' socialism. In so doing, it sheds light on Luxemburg's critics on Lenin's theories of proletariat dictatorship in which a very small number of people are expected to control the whole system and on the Bolshevik's policies that lapsed a democratic system. The author argues that Luxemburg's ideas about democratic socialism are reliant on a parliamentary political system that would be backed by the people's spontaneous participation and their socialist civic virtue.

본 논문은 로자 룩셈부르크(Rosa Luxemburg)의 민주주의적 사회주의에 대한 이론을 통해서 기존의 대표적인 사회주의 모델인 ‘국가사회주의’와 ‘사민주의’의 한계를 극복하는 진정한 제3의 사회주의의 길을 모색해보려는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 민주주의적인 제도를 폐지한 볼셰비키의 정책과 소수의 당지도자들에 의해 지도되는 프롤레타리아 독재라는 레닌의 사상을 룩셈부르크가 어떻게 비판하고 있는가를 살펴보고, 이와 연관하여 자발성과 사회주의적 시민덕성에 기초한 평의회체제를 근간으로 하는 그녀의 민주주의적 사회주의에 대한 구상을 분석한다.
