『Yeolyangsegi』 has been translated six times so far. As a result of reviewing the translations, a number of errors that cannot be overlooked were found. Among these, the subject of intensive review is a translation of 『JoseonDaeSesigi Ⅲ』 published by the National Folk Museum of Korea in 2006. As a result of the review, a total of 30 errors were found. They were not just mistakes or levels of negligence caused by carelessness, but cases of obscuring or even seriously distorting the facts. Even now, it is necessary to accept these criticisms, correct the wrong parts, and hurry to start working on making up for the shortcomings. Based on these points and supplementations, we look forward to the emergence of a complete translation of 『Yeolyangsegi』 with faithful annotations after a comparative study of variant texts.

『열양세시기』는 지금까지 모두 여섯 차례 번역되었다. 그 번역본들을 검토한 결과 간과할 수 없는 오류들이 다수 발견되었다. 이것들 중 집중적인 검토의 대상으로 삼은 것은 2006년 국립민속박물관에서 펴낸 『조선대세시기 Ⅲ』에 들어 있는 『열양세시기』 번역본이다. 검토한 결과 모두 30개의 오류가 발견되었다. 그것들은 단순한 실수라거나 부주의해서 일어난 불찰 정도의 수준이 아니라, 사실을 모호하게 하거나 심지어는 심각하게 왜곡하는 경우였다. 지금이라도 이러한 지적을 수용하여 잘못된 부분을 수정하고 부족한 부분을 보완하는 작업을 서둘러 시작해야 한다. 향후 이런 지적과 보완을 토대로 하고, 이본 연구를 통해 선본(先/善本)을 확정한 후 충실한 주석을 단 『열양세시기』 완역본이 출현하기를 기대해 본다.
