시조치료는 우울증을 극복하고 존재의 진정성을 확립시키는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 퇴계선생의 시조 <도산십 이곡>의 이미지의 양상이 의학생리학적 감각경험과 심적반응을 융합하는지 탐색하는 것이다. 퇴계선생의 시조 <도산 십이곡>은 생명력을 활성화시키는 원리가 작동되고 있다. 선생의 시조는 존재의 진정성을 창조하는 원리가, 인체의 감각경험과 심적반응을 통해 우울증을 극복하고 지금-여기, 존재의 삶이 변화될 수 있도록 도움을 주는 것이다. 따라 서 본 연구에서는 퇴계선생의 시조 <도산십이곡>중 제4곡이 어떤 치유력을 지니고 있는지를 증명한다. 따라서 향후 감각경험과 심적반응에 대한 시조치료 연구 개발을 위한 기초자료로 제공하는 데 의의가 있다.
