Because of COVID-19, it has become hard for Christians to gather together in the church. Consequently, it has promoted the development of the online worship service. In the beginning of COVID-19, many scholars and ministers insisted that it is mandatory to examine the applicability of the online worship service first. However, as the situation got worse and a means of participating in the worship services remotely was seriously required, many churches utilized online media and started to provide the online worship services. It has been three years since churches started to provide the online worship services, and it has influenced Korean Christians’ faith practices one way and another. Fortunately, the influence of Corona virus is waning and most Korean churches hope to recover their past. Thus, it is the right time to evaluate how the online worship service has changed Korean Christians’ faith as well as to study how the change affects future ministry. This study analyzes and interprets the result of “the Survey of Korean Churches’ Worship and Spirituality during COVID-19” conducted from February 22 to March 3 by Christian Institute for the Study of Justice and Development. In specific, it tries to figure out the meaning and limitation of the online worship service which was the main faith practice of Korean Christians during COVID-19. Based on the result, moreover, this study will anticipate which elements Korean churches should consider seriously for its future ministry. Ultimately, this paper will be an evaluation of the Korean churches’ worship service during COVID-19 and also a cornerstone from which various theological studies on Korean churches’ future will be initiated.

코로나 바이러스로 인해 교회에 모이는 것이 어려워진 상황에서 온라인 예배는 새 로운 종교적 예식으로 자리 잡았다. 코로나 기간의 초기만 하더라도 많은 학자들과 목회자들은 온라인 예배의 활용 가능성에 대한 연구와 평가가 선행되어야 한다고 주 장하였다. 하지만 상황이 급격하게 악화되고, 비대면 예배를 드리기 위한 방편의 필요 성이 높아지자, 여러 교회들은 아직 검증이 채 되지 않은 온라인 미디어를 사용해 예 배를 드리기 시작했다. 그렇게 온라인 예배로 신앙생활을 해온 지도 3년째에 접어들 었고, 새로운 미디어를 통한 종교예식은 개신교인들의 신앙에 여러모로 영향을 미쳤 다. 다행히 코로나 바이러스의 영향력이 약화되어 대부분의 교회가 일상의 회복을 희 망하는 지금, 한국교회는 그동안 온라인 예배가 개신교 신앙 지형에 어떠한 변화를 초래하였는지, 그리고 그것이 향후 목회 방향에 어떠한 영향을 줄 지에 대한 평가 및 연구를 진행해야 할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 2022년 2월 24일부터 3월 3일까지 “한국기독교사회문제연구원”에 서 실시한 “코로나19 시대, 한국교회의 예배와 영성에 대한 조사” 중 “코로나19와 예 배” 파트의 설문 결과를 분석하고, 그 의미를 해석하여 한국교회와 신학계에 보고하 려 한다. 특히 코로나 기간 동안 개신교인들의 신앙 활동의 중심이었던 온라인 예배 가 한국 개신교인들에게 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 분석함으로 온라인 예배의 의미와 한계를 고찰할 것이다. 더불어 이를 근거로 앞으로 한국교회는 어떤 부분에 관심을 기울여야 할지를 예상해 보려 한다. 이는 코로나 기간 동안 한국교회가 중점을 둔 바 에 대한 일종의 평가가 될 것이며, 향후 한국교회가 나아갈 방향에 대한 연구의 초석이 될 것이다.
