The purpose of this paper is to examine the appearance and construction of comparative marker boda in Modern Korean. First of all, this paper deals with characteristics of boda construction in the 17, 18th centuries. Also, this paper explains bodam, bodan that are related with boda and the aspect of competition between e, dugon and boda. Next, this paper analyzes various characteristics of boda construction in the 19th century. As a result, essential characteristics of inequal comparison are explained through observing co-occurrence with deol, mos that represent inferior comparison. In addition, this paper interprets boda constructions that have different characteristics from Contemporary Korean.

이 연구는 근대국어에서 비교표지로 쓰인 ‘보다’의 출현과 구문 양상을 논의하였다. 우선 17, 18세기에서의 초기 구문 양상을 확인하고 ‘보다’와 관련된 형태인 ‘보담’, ‘보단’을 다루었다. 또한 비교표지 ‘두곤’, ‘에’와의 경쟁 양상을 논의하였다. 다음으로 문헌 자료에서 ‘보다’의 출현이 본격적으로 나타나는 19세기에서의 다양한 구문 양상을 살펴보았다. 특히 열등의 비교결과를 나타내는 ‘덜ᄒᆞ다’, ‘못ᄒᆞ다’, ‘덜’, ‘못’과의 공기 양상을 통해 근대국어 차등비교구문의 특징을 규명하고, 현대국어에서와는 다른 양상을 보이는 ‘보다’ 구문을 설명하였다.
