Optical art is the art of retina which induces a visual illusion through an abstract expression of repetition aesthetics and has been utilized as a source of design in the various fields beyond the scope and area of contemporary arts. Art makeup is to make aesthetic and artistic emotion become an image visually according to faces and human bodies and achieve a liberal and creative makeup. Art makeup design has focused on a unique design which can enhance an artistic value through the combination with various art areas. This study analyzed formative characteristics and design cases of optical art and works of representative optical artists and researched art makeup designs applying optical art motives. This study reinterpreted formative characteristics of optical art into art makeup works based on an artistic trend in order to develop symbolic formative art makeup design which is harmonized with popular art trend and create a new and unique image. After it investigated materials of optical art and art makeup and analyzed their formative characteristics, it produced art makeup works. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that formative shape of repetition, illusion and colors, and artistic expressions of geometrical optical art could crate unique optical art designs when they were mixed with facial and physical solidity. In addition, it was found that original functionality and aesthetic value of art makeup was enhanced and a new artistic image was delivered.

옵티컬 아트는 반복미학의 추상적 표현을 통한 시 각적 착각을 유도하는 망막의 예술로서 단순히 현대 미술의 영역과 범위를 넘어서 다양한 분야에서 디자 인의 원천으로 활용되고 있다. 아트메이크업은 얼굴 및 인체에 주제에 따라 미적 이고 예술적인 감성을 시각적으로 이미지화하여 자 유롭고 창의적인 메이크업을 구현하는 것이다. 아트 메이크업 디자인은 다양한 예술 분야와 조합을 통해 예술적 가치를 높일 수 있는 개성있는 디자인에 대 한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구는 옵티컬 아트에 나타난 조형적 특성과 대표 작가들의 작품의 특성, 디자인 사례들을 분석 하고, 이러한 모티브를 응용하여 아트메이크업 디자 인을 연구하고자 하였다. 옵티컬 아트 디자인의 조형적 특성을 예술적 경향 에 근거한 아트 메이크업 작품으로 재해석하여 제작 함으로서 창의적 발상과 응용력을 높이고 대중적인 예술사조와 융합하는 상징적인 조형예술적 아트메이 크업 디자인 개발과 새롭고 개성있는 이미지 구현의 방향을 모색하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 옵티컬 아 트와 아트메이크업에 관한 자료를 고찰하고 조형적 특성을 분석한 후 아트메이크업 작품을 제작하였다. 연구결과 반복과 착시의 형태조형, 입체조형, 색채 조형 등 기하학적 옵티컬 아트의 조형 예술적 표현 들이 얼굴 및 신체의 입체성과 융합하여 독특한 옵 아트 디자인의 구현이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다. 아트메이크업의 독창적인 작품 가능성과 미적 가치 를 높이고 새로운 예술적 이미지를 전달하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
