This t hesis i s t he first p art o f a s tudy o n Negri's c ommonist p ol itical philosophy, consisting of a total of four papers. The two tasks of this thesis are as follows: 1) given the lack of a prior understanding of Negri's commonism in the Korean academic field, to outline the various meanings of the concept of the common to provide the foundation for the discussion to follow, 2) to investigate the political implications of commonism by examining the relationship between the democracy of the multitude and the common. S ection 2 , w hich d eal s w ith t he f irst p robl em, i nvestigates t he multiple contexts of the concept, focusing on five semantic divisions: the distinction between the common and the public-the private system, the natural and the social aspect, the ontological and the historical aspect, the ontological and the axiological aspect, and the objective and the subjective aspect of the common. Section 3, based on the discussion in Section 2, explores the problematic of political commonism by examining the relationship between the common and the democracy of the multitude, a concept that implies the fundamental concern of Negri's political phil osophy. H ere, t he d emocracy of t he mul titude i s d efined a s a bsol ute democracy in the context of criticism of the dominant notion that only ‘the One’ can rule, and it will be discussed as the core of the commonist political philosophy that the common as the constituent essence of both multitude and democracy is the ontological basis for absolute democracy.

본 논문은 총 4편의 논문으로 구성될, 네그리 공통주의 정치철학에 대한 연구의 첫 번째 부분이다. 1) 한국 학술장에 네그리의 공통주의에 대한 선(先)이해가 부족한 상황을 감안해 공통적인 것 개념의 다양한 의미를 개괄하여 이어질 논의의 윤곽과 토대를 마련하고, 2) 네 그리 정치철학의 또 다른 핵심 개념인 다중의 민주주의와 공통적인 것의 관계를 살핌으로써 공통주의의 정치적 함의를 규명하는 것이 본 논문이 수행하고자 하는 두 가지 과제다. 첫 번째 문제를 다루는 2절은 공통적인 것과 공사(公私) 이두(二頭)체제의 구분, 공통적인 것의 자연적 측면과 사회적 측면, 존재론적 측면과 역사적 측면, 존재론적 측면과 가치론적 측면, 객체적 측면과 주체적 측면의 구분 등 다섯 가지 의미 구분을 중심으로 개념의 다의(多義)적 맥락을 조망한다. 2절의 논의를 기반으로 하는 3절은 네그리 정치철학의 근본관심을 함축하 는 개념인 다중의 민주주의와 공통적인 것의 관계를 고찰함으로써 정치적 공통주의의 문제 계를 탐구한다. 여기서 다중의 민주주의는 일자(一者)만이 통치할 수 있다는 지배적 통념에 대한 비판의 맥락에서 절대적 민주주의로 규정되는바, 공통적인 것이 다중과 민주주의 모두 의 구성적 본질로서 절대적 민주주의를 가능케 하는 존재론적 근거라는 것이 공통주의 정치 철학의 중심내용으로 논의될 것이다.
