This study analyzes the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capability, and absorption capacity of SMEs, while investigating the mediating effect of technology innovation in the process of each factor affecting enterprise performance. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted on 1,200 small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises, and 237 response data were collected. As a result of analyzing using the structural equation model, first, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capability, and absorption capacity had a positive (+) effect on technological innovation performance. Second, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation had a positive (+) effect on enterprise performance. Third, the results show that the mediating effect of technological innovation performance, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation had a partial mediating effect, while innovation capability and absorption capacity had a complete mediating effect. The academic contribution of this study is that this study has a differentiation compared to previous studies in that it verified the effect on enterprise performance by integrating and analyzing research in the field of orientation and innovation. Based on these results, the practical implications of this study are as follows. First, in order for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises to maximize enterprise performance, efforts will be needed to improve innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking, which are three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation. Second, small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises can increase their enterprise performance through a high level of internal innovation capabilities, and third, it is important to actively utilize external resources by strengthening absorption capacity to create such innovation performance.

본 논문에서는 기업가지향성, 혁신역량, 흡수역량이 중소제조기업의 기술혁신성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 관계를 분석함과 동시에 각 요인들이 기업성과에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 기 술혁신성과의 매개효과를 규명해 보고자 한다. 실증분석을 위해 1,200개 중소제조기업을 대상으 로 한 설문조사를 시행하였으며, 237개의 응답 자료를 수집하였다. 구조방정식 모델을 활용하여 분석한 결과, 첫째, 기업가지향성, 혁신역량, 흡수역량은 기술혁신성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기업가지향성은 기업성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋 째, 기술혁신성과의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 기업가지향성은 부분 매개효과가 나타난 반면에 혁신역량 및 흡수역량은 완전 매개효과가 존재하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 학술적 기여는 기업가지향성 분야의 연구와 혁신 분야의 연구를 통합 분석하여 기업성과에 미치는 영향을 검 증한 점은 기존 연구들과 비교하여 본 연구가 차별성을 가지는 측면이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구의 실무적 시사점을 제시한다면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중소제조기업이 기업 성과를 극대화하기 위해서는 기업가지향성의 3가지 차원인 혁신성, 진취성, 위험감수성을 향상 시키려는 노력이 필요할 것이다. 둘째, 중소제조기업은 높은 수준의 내부 혁신역량을 통해 기업 성과를 증대시킬 수 있으며, 셋째, 이러한 혁신성과를 창출하기 위해서는 흡수역량을 강화하여 외부자원들을 적극적으로 활용하는 것이 중요하다.
