In the past, the prevailing view was that Tang-style belts were not introduced in Baekje. However, as the number of cases in which Tang-style belt ornaments were discovered gradually increased in the tombs created during Baekje’s existence, the need to review this hypothesis was raised. To date, Tang-style belt ornaments excavated from Baekje ruins are limited to those in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, such as Ssangneung and Daewangneung Royal Tombs, Samdam-ri Stone Chamber, Mireuksaji Seotap, and Wanggung-ri Kiln Site. The date of belt ornaments generally coincides with the time when King Mu (r. 600–641) actively developed the Iksan area; thus, it is believed that these ornaments would have been used in a limited way in Iksan during his reign. It is believed that, at the time, the class that owned these ornaments, the newly emerging local forces with considerable wealth and power, actively cooperated with Baekje’s King Mu in the Iksan area. However, since Baekje during the Sabi capital period had already established a completed official uniform system consisting of inverted leaf-shaped belts and silver diadem ornaments, it is estimated that the Tang-style belts were discontinued without being disseminated on a large scale.

기왕에 백제에는 당식 대장식구가 도입되지 않았던 것으로 보는 견해가 우세하였다. 그러나 최근백제 존속 당시 조성된 유구에서 당식 대장식구가 출토되는 사례가 조금씩 증대되면서 이에 대한 검토의 필요성이 제기되었다. 현재까지 백제 유적에서 출토된 당식 대장식구는 쌍릉 대왕릉·삼담리 석실·미륵사지 서탑·왕궁리 가마터 등 현재의 전라북도 익산시 내의 유적에 국한되며 대장식구의 연대는 대체로 7세기 전반경에 해당된다. 이는 무왕이 익산지역을 적극적으로 개발하는 시점과 부합하므로 무왕대 익산에한정되어 제한적으로 사용된 것으로 여겨진다. 백제에서 이를 소유하던 계층은 익산에 기반을 둔 재지의 신흥세력이면서 무왕의 익산 경영에 적극적으로 협조하였던 것으로 판단된다. 다만 사비기 백제는 이미 역심엽형 대장식구와 은화관식으로 구성된 완성된 관복 시스템이 정착되었기 때문에 당식 대장식구는 널리 확산되지 못한 채 단절된것으로 판단된다
