The backlash is men's adverse reaction and strong resentment against the feminist movement, with the intention to maintain their own power as the Establishment. Such a tendency is also manifested in white supremacy against improvements in human rights for people of color. Michel Foucault defines an anti-spatial space where utopia, which does not exist in reality, exists in reality as “heterotopia”, and puts it in the same context as the backlash emerging through the spirit of resistance. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to categorize the backlash fashion in feminism and white supremacy based on the concept of spatial reconstruction from the anti-spatial perspective of heterotopia and to analyze the characteristics of backlash in terms of fashion. Backlash fashion was analyzed to be characterized by loss of meaning, repeatability, and situational flexibility, which has something to do with some characteristics of heterotopia: deviance, reconstruction, contradiction, and coexistence. While feminism backlash showed the characteristics of deviance, reconstruction, contradiction, and coexistence, the characteristics of white backlash included deviance, contradiction, and coexistence. First, deviance has a tendency to insist on a fashion that has a negative effect on the subgroup. Second, reconstruction is related to sublimating a fashion that has had a negative effect on the subgroup to another item or meaning. Third, contradiction means a fashion that has been degraded to a medium for displaying one's individuality while losing the original meaning as a symbolic fashion in the subgroup. Fourth, coexistence means a temporal coexistence where the meaning of the past fashion is retained even in the modern fashion. This study is significant in defining a new domain of backlash fashion and presenting a new viewpoint towards the issue of human rights by considering human rights discrimination, which has emerged as a major problem, with fashion.

백래시는 페미니즘 운동을 부정적으로 바라보며 기득권층의 권력을 유지하기 위해 나타난 반발 심리 중 하나로 이는 유색인종 인권에 반하는 백인 우월주의에서도 나타난다. 푸코는 현실에 존재하지 않는 유토피 아가 현실에 존재하는 반(反)공간적인 공간을 헤테로토피아라고 정의하며 저항 정신을 바탕으로 나타나는 백래시와 맥락을 공유한다. 본 연구는 헤테로토피아의 반공간적 시각을 통한 공간 재구성화의 개념을 바탕 으로 페미니즘과 백인 우월주의에 나타난 백래시 패션을 유형화하고, 백래시가 패션에 어떠한 특성으로 나 타나는지에 대하여 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 백래시 패션은 의미의 상실, 반복성, 상황에 따른 유연성 이라는 특성을 가지며 이는 헤테로토피아 특성 중 일탈, 재구성, 모순, 공존과 관계성을 가지고 나타난다. 페미니즘 백래시는 일탈, 재구성, 모순, 공존의 특성을 보였고, 화이트 백래시는 일탈, 모순, 공존의 특성을 가지고 있다. 첫째, 일탈은 하위집단에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 패션을 지속적으로 착용하는 특징을 가지 고 있다. 둘째, 재구성은 과거의 부정적인 영향을 미친 패션을 다른 아이템이나 의미로 승화하여 착용하는 특징을 가지고 있다. 셋째, 모순은 하위집단에서 나타나는 상징적인 패션의 의미를 상실한 채 자신의 개성 을 표현하기 위한 매개체로 전락한 패션을 의미한다. 넷째, 공존은 과거 패션이 가지고 있던 의미가 현대 패션에도 유지되어 시간적인 공존을 보이는 특징을 가진다. 본 연구는 백래시 패션이라는 새로운 영역으로 사회적 문제로 나타난 다각도의 인권차별과 이를 패션에 융합한 새로운 관점을 제시한 것에 의의가 있다.
