A Study on Sensitivity Evaluation of Fragrance and Brain Wave Reaction for Cosmetic Development

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the sensitivity of scents to develop scalp cosmetics. Subjective appraisal was conducted through an olfactory appraisal survey, and objective appraisal was conducted by analyzing EEG responses to odor stimulation. Studies have shown that lavender scents are "artificial" and "intellectual" images, while lemongrass are "strong," "stimulating," "dark," and "warm," patchouli are "rare," "specific," "individual," and geranium aesthetic scents. The reaction of brain waves was most pronounced in the direction of geranium, and beta waves expressed in awakening increased(t=-3.39, p<.01). In the case of scalp hair cosmetics shampoo that wakes people up and induces behavior, geranium scent is considered to be effective as a raw material that acts as a human physiology for scents.

본 연구는 두피화장품개발을 위한 향의 감성평가를 목적으로 화장품에 어울리는 향의 주관적, 객관적 감 성평가를 실시하고자 하였다. 주관적 감성평가는 후각감성평가 설문을 통해 두피화장품모발 향의 감성재구조를 도 출하였다. 객관적 감성평가로는 향에 따른 뇌파반응을 측정하여 분석하였다. 연구의 결과 라벤더 향은 ‘인공적인’, ‘이지적인’의 이미지로 나타났고 레몬그라스는 ‘강렬한’, ‘자극적인’, ‘진한’, ‘따뜻한’, 페츌리는 ‘희귀한’, ‘특이한’, ‘개성적인’, 제라늄의 향은 ‘어두운’, ‘침울한’, ‘진한’의 심미적인 향의 특성이 도출되었다. 뇌파의 반응은 제라늄 향에 가장 뚜렷하게 나타났으며 각성에 의해 발현되는 베타파는 증가하였다(t=-3.39, p<.01). 이는 잠을 깨우고 행동을 독려하는 두피모발화장품 샴푸의 경우 향에 의한 인체생리학적 역할의 원료로서 제라늄과 라벤더 향이 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.
