Economic growth of a region is typically measured by quantitative growth in employment and output of the region. Shift-share analysis and growth rate differential analysis have been utilized extensively in the analysis of quantitative growth in employment and output mainly due to their simplicity and low burden of data work. The purpose of this note is to extend the growth rate differential analysis by suggesting new formulae for the analysis. Briefly discussing pros and cons of the shift-share analysis and the growth rate differential analysis, this note reviews selectively the two methods and the literature utilizing them. This note then suggests alternative formulae for the growth rate differential analysis. The original and the alternative formulae are applied to the analysis of employment change in Capital area of Korea to illustrate the difference between the original formula and the alternative formulae of the growth rate differential analysis.

도시와 지역의 성장은 보통 고용과 산출의 양적 성장으로 측정하고 평가한다. 변이 할당 분석과 성장률 시차분석은 분석방법이 간단하고 데이터 요구량이 적어서 지역경 제 성장의 분석에 광범위하게 활용되고 있다. 본 논문은 ‘새로운 분해방법’을 제안하여 성장률 시차분석 모형을 확장하고자 한다. 먼저, 변이할당 분석과 성장률 시차분석에 대한 간단한 문헌조사와 평가를 제시한다. 다음으로, 새로운 분석기법을 제안한다. 마지막으로, 수도권의 고용통계를 이용한 예시를 통해 새로운 분석기법과 기존 분석기 법의 차이를 보인다.
