As of 2021, a total of 160,000 multicultural teenagers accounted for 3% of the total number of students, signaling changes in the educational field. However, existing research on multicultural youth focuses on cultural adaptation, so it is not easy to find research on how victimization of peer violence affects life and how the resulting negative effects can be reduced. This study examined whether peer attachment mediated the relationship between victimization of peer violence experience and fear of crime using data on 800 multicultural adolescents at the Korea Institute for Criminal Policy in 2012. As a result of the analysis, first, the experience of victimization of peer violence, fear of crime, and peer attachment showed a significant correlation with each other. Second, peer attachment mediated the relationship between victimization experience and fear of crime. This means that peer attachment significantly reduces the negative effect of victimization experience on fear of crime. Based on these results, the importance of peer attachment in the aftereffects of victimization experience was discussed. This study is meaningful in that it has expanded the study of victimization targeting ordinary adolescents to multicultural adolescents so far, verified the effect on crime fear mainly targeting adults, and identified factors that effectively reduce fear.

2004년 학교폭력 관련 법률을 제정한 이후, 한국 사회는 청소년 비행으로 인한 피해를 예방하고 해결하기 위해 상당한 노력을 기울여왔다. 하지만, 학교폭력 실태조사 결과 피해 응답률이 다시 증가하기 시작했고, 미디어에서도 어렵지 않게 현황을 접할 수 있 다. 한편, 2021년 기준 다문화 청소년은 총 16만 명으로 전체 초·중·고등학생 수의 3%에 해당하는 것으로 집계된 바, 교육 현장의 변화를 예고하고 있다. 하지만, 다문화 청소년을 대상으로 한 기존의 연구는 문화적 적응에 초점이 맞춰져 있어 비행피해가 삶에 어떤 영향을 미치고, 이로 인한 부정적 영향을 어떻게 줄일 수 있는지에 대한 연 구는 찾기 쉽지 않다. 따라서, 본 연구는 2012년 한국형사정책연구원에서 11세부터 19 세까지 총 800명의 다문화 청소년을 대상으로 한 비행피해 및 가해에 대한 조사자료를 활용하여 비행피해경험과 비행피해두려움의 관계를 또래 애착이 매개하는지 살펴보았 다. 분석 결과 첫째, 비행피해경험과 비행피해두려움, 또래 애착은 서로 유의한 상관 관계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 비행피해경험과 비행피해두려움의 관계를 또래 애착이 매개했 다. 이는 비행피해경험이 비행피해두려움에 미치는 부정적 영향을 또래 애착이 유의하 게 감소시키는 것을 의미한다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 비행피해경험의 후유증에서 또래애 착의 중요성에 대해서 논의하였다. 본 연구는 지금까지 일반 청소년을 대상으로 한 비 행피해연구를 다문화 청소년을 대상으로 확장하고, 주로 성인 대상으로 이루어졌던 범 죄두려움에 미치는 영향을 검증함과 더불어 두려움을 효과적으로 감소시키는 요인을 확인했다는 것에 의의가 있다.
