It is obvious that the main data for the study on the history of The Imjin War are Seonjosilok(宣祖實錄) and Seonjosujeongsilok(宣祖修正實錄). The data of the Silok in the period of The Imjin War, however, were not sincerely described, different from other Siloks, due to loss of the historic library in Chunchu-gwan after the King’s flight from the palace. The Eundaegi(銀臺記) in Yanghodangilgi(養澔堂日記), which is known to be written by Lee Deokyeol(1534-1599) during the period of The Imjin War, is a document in the form of Seungjeongwonilgi(承政院日記), as a very important historical material used to complement the Silok in terms of the war situation, though there has been no research on the historical material of Yanghodangilgi. This paper, therefore, considered the value of Yanghodangilgi as a historical material. First, it examined the life of Lee Deokyeol, the writer of this diary and the characteristics of it. Second, it examined the articles about military affairs in Yanghodangilgi, and considered the progress of The pay taxes on tribute with rice by investigating those about it. In conclusion, Yanghodangilgi has a considerable value and is more objective than individuals’ diaries or anthologies, so it can be used as a basic material for complementing the chronicle data edited by the government. It may be necessary to develop the research method allowing the data of chronicle records created in the period of The Imjin War to be systematically and actively used, given the value of Yanghodangilgi as a historical material.

임진왜란사 연구의 중심자료는 단연 관찬연대기인 『선조실록』과 『선조수정실록』이다. 하지만 임진왜란 당시의 실록 자료는 국왕의 파천 이후 춘추관 사고의 소실 등으로 다른 실록과 달리 충실하게 기술되지 못했다. 그런데 이덕열(1534～1599)이 임진왜란 중에 작성한 것으로 알려진 『養澔堂日記』의 ｢銀臺記｣는 『승정 원일기』의 형식을 따른 기록물로서 전황에 대해 실록을 보완할 수 있는 매우 중 요한 사료이다. 그럼에도 현재까지 『양호당일기』의 사료 자체에 대한 연구는 없다. 이에 본고에서는 『양호당일기』의 사료적 가치를 고찰하였다. 먼저 이 일기의 저자인 이덕열의 생애와 이 일기의 특징을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 『양호당일기』에서의 군사관련 기사를 살펴보았으며, 이 일기에 보이는 공물작미 관련 기사를 살펴보면서, 그 시행 경과에 대해 고찰하였다. 결론적으로 『양호당일기』는 상당 한 가치를 지니고 있기 때문에 개인 일기나 문집보다는 더 객관성을 유지하고 있 어 관찬 연대기 자료를 보완하는 기본 자료로 활용할 수 있다. 『양호당일기』의 사료적 가치를 통해 임진왜란 시기 연대기 기록 자료가 보다 체계적이고 활발하 게 활용할 수 있는 연구 방안을 마련해야 한다.
