MaeilShinbo was the official newspaper of the Japanese Government- General of Korea during the Japanese occupation so it had limitations in grasping various situations in Korea at the time. However, it is worth noting that it provided the information on popular folk remedies through articles and editorials on various social cultures and lifestyles at that time. MaeilShinbo introduced folk remedies that could be easily tried at home to treat various types of diseases that could break out frequently in daily life. From the late 1920s to the early 1940s, through the articles and editorials, it briefly described various diseases in daily life, and how to treat them, and how to use medicinal ingredients necessary for such remedies. It also showed how to manufacture the drugs and how to take them including external application, etc. Among the articles published in the newspaper, the treatments and prevention methods by symptom can be found from the newspapers of various cities and counties where traditional medical books and folk remedies are described.

『매일신보』가 일제강점기 조선총독부의 기관지였기에 당시 한국내부의 다양한 현상을 파악하기에는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 이 당시 다양한 사회문화 와 생활상에 대한 기사, 사설 등을 통해서 대중적으로 사용가능한 민간요법의 정 보제공을 한 점에서 주목할 수 있다. 『매일신보』는 일상생활에서 빈번하게 나타날 수 있는 다양한 형태의 질환 중 에서 가정에서 쉽게 그 증상을 치료할 수 있는 방법을 소개하고 있다. 1920년대 후반부터 1940년대 초까지 기사를 통해서 다양한 일상의 질환과 그 치료법 및 치료에 필요한 약재의 이용법을 상황에 따라 간략하게 기술하였다. 또한 제조방 법과 복용·외용 등의 쓰는 방법도 소개하고 있다. 신문에 실린 기사 중에서 증상에 따른 치료 및 예방법은 전통의서(醫書) 및 민간요법이 기술된 여러 지역의 시군지(市郡誌)를 통해서 그 단면을 살펴볼 수 있다.
