This study is to apply nine research questions; 1) why the pope Gregory I made a decision to convert England to Christianity? 2) what trains were the Roman evangelists received? 3) in the early medieval era, what the conditions of the successful evangelism were? 4) what were expected from the evangelists? 5) how did they communicate for winning souls? 6) to what extent did the evangelists make changes on the indigenous traditions and cultures? 7) what were expected from the new converts? 8) what were the stances of the Roman church on tithe, woman, biblical terms and the indigenous leaders? 9) when was a new convert recognized a Christian by individuals and society?, that Richard Fletcher raised for investigation of the Holy Roman Church way of evangelism to investigate the Celtic way of evangelism in the fifth century. As the part I, three questions out of nine research questions such as first, why Patrick decided to convert the Irelands to Christianity? Second, what evangelism programs were given to the Celtic evangelists and what strategies and methods were employed? Third, what were the conditions of the effective evangelism?, are studied As a result, first, Patrick obeyed to the irresistible call of God for the Celts while the Holy Roman Church pursued “the successful evangelism” based on religious ideology. Second, Patrick made disciples who could make disciples by using contextualization and incarnational approach for effective effective evangelism while the Holy Roman church carried out “the successful evangelism” derived from Crusade ideology. Third, Patrick already practiced platform church that necessitated lay leadership for evangelism unlike the Holy Roman church that was centered by the pope like a pipeline church.
