In this paper, BONJIN as an example was reviewed on the existence and extraction method of the meaning reflecting social values. It was analyzed through the examples appearing in the corpus that BONJIN has the polysemous social meaning of and due to the relativity of the denotation . In addition, it was suggested that the relationship between denotation and social connotation is mediated by discourse meaning tendencies related to the evaluation of BONJIN's intrinsic qualities and extroverted behavior. As an extension of this paper, I would like to make a future task, including the contrast with Korean, regarding the possibility of expanding word meaning reflecting social values f or human nouns, which refer to ‘the majority of ordinary people’.

본고에서는 「凡人」을 예로 사회적 가치관이 반영된 의미의 존재와 추출법에 관해서 검토 하였다. 코퍼스에 나타난 실례를 통해 「凡人」에는 변별적 의미 ＜普通でなみである＞의 상대 성에 기인한 ＜普通でなみであることを否定的に捉える＞, ＜普通でなみであることを肯定的に捉え る＞라는 다의의 사회적 의미가 존재함을 밝혔다. 또한 이와 같은 변별적 의미와 사회적 의미 의 관계는 「凡人」의 내재적인 자질과 외향적인 행동에 관한 평가에 관련된 담론적 의미경향 을 매개로 하고 있음을 제시하였다. 본고의 연장선상에서 ‘다수의 일반인’을 지칭하는 人名詞 를 대상으로 사회적 가치관이 반영된 어의확장의 가능성에 관하여 한국어와의 대조를 포함하 여 금후의 과제로 삼고 싶다.
