The purpose of this paper is to analyze string sextet by Arnold Schönberg and to examine the sublimation of the artist’s emotions about melancholy through art creation and musical meaning of works created by sublimation. The creation of the work made Schönberg face painful emotions and reality, causing him to question his identity as a musician and to change the paradigm for musical expression. Schönberg attempted a new combination of music by using both classical and progressive music forms in . As a result, the first chamber music poem was born, a breakthrough from the dissonance of form to a new music form. This is an artistic achievement through the expression and sublimation of the artist’s emotions occurring in the space of the work, and it is also a proof of the artist’s existence value through creation.

이 논문의 목적은 쇤베르크 Arnold Schönberg의 현악 6중주 곡 <정화된 밤 Verklärte Nacht, Op. 4>을 중심으로 예술 창작 과정을 통한 예술가의 우울 표현과 감 정 승화에 의해 생성된 작품의 음악적 의미를 살펴보는 것이다. 작품 창작은 쇤베르크 에게 고통스러운 감정과 현실을 대면하게 하여 음악가로서의 정체성에 대한 의문과 음 악 표현에 대한 패러다임의 전환을 주었다. 쇤베르크는 <정화된 밤>에 시대가 요구하 는 예술 사조의 형식을 깨는 고전적 음악 형식과 진보적 음악 형식을 함께 사용하여 음 악의 새로운 조합을 시도하였다. 그 결과 <정화된 밤>은 최초의 실내악 시어이자 형 식의 부조화에서 새로운 음악으로 나아가는 돌파구가 되었다. 이것은 작품이라는 공간 에서 일어나는 예술가의 감정의 표현과 승화에 의한 예술적 업적이며 또한 창조를 통 한 예술가의 존재 가치에 대한 증명이다.
