The essay explores a novel approach to Baekje culture in the broader sphere of East Asian civilization, focusing in particular, on the importance of the Ganji Diagram, a memorial stone located in and representing the status of the Muryong Royal Tomb, andby doing so,in this way attempts in order to extricate the characteristics of a civilized community from the perspective of transcendentalism. The aim is to understand the iconological system of the Ganji Diagram and the integral horizon of astronomy and humanities. This system reflects the transformative methodology having the character of prior empiricism in a unity of knowledge and wisdom. This guarantees the universality of prior experience in the particulars of the iconological, diagram from the perspective of subjective consciousness. Therefore, the system may be understood as having a higher dimension of consciousness, such as life in diagram and diagram in life, in its encoding of the content of East Asian mythological enlightenment and symbolizing the canon of geopolitical compass directions. In this context, consequently, it is possible to say that in the Ganji Diagram, the irreversible world of life and death is elevated to the reversible world of the sexagenary cycle.

본고에서는 문명의 생명력의 차원에서 무령왕릉의 유적에서 干支圖가 차지하는 비중을 주목하고 그 속에서 문명사회의 성격과 특징을 모색한다. 간지도는 무령왕 릉의 지정학적 위상을 나타내는 묘지석으로서, 사후세계의 토지매매서인 買地卷과 함께 백제의 세계관에 접근하는 일종의 블랙박스의 성격을 지닌다. 그 속에는 曆法 의 체계와 그 圖像學的 특징이 담겨있다. 天干과 地支의 시공간적 좌표는 天圓地方 의 천문학적 차원에서 삶과 죽음의 순환적 굴레를 투영한 것이다. 간지도는 무령 왕의 지정학적 위상을 방위의 관념으로 표상화한 것으로서, 세속의 삶처럼 사후의 세계에서도 明堂을 통해 上天으로부터 생명력의 기운을 지속적으로 받고자 한 것 이다. 그것은 圖像의 특수성에서 인간의식의 보편성을 담아내고 天文의 자연과학 적 내용 속에 人文의 자연철학적 사고를 반영하였다. 이는 도식의 생명화와 생명의 도식화로 집약될 수 있다. 여기에는 앞서 존재하는 경험적 의식의 차원에서 先驗主 義的 세계관이 반영되어 있다. 간지도에서는 삶의 不可逆的 세계의 연장선상에서 삶과 죽음의 可逆的 경계를 염원하는 일종의 求道的 가치관이 투영되어 있다.
